From 1955 till 1985, structures of compounds subjected in DTP for valuation were drawn in the hand, first on chemistry cards and later transferred to a database computerised by the Chemical Abstracts Service (CASE). In 1985, an effort contract to develop a base of electronic data eliminated the need of hand-draw structures. DTC has now an in-house Drug Information System (SAY), who allowed the transfer of the activities of entrance of the SAE to the businessman of acquisition and gave to the personnel the capacity to perform interactive researches of inventory, structural, and of expedition. It is fair to say that the level of enthusiasm to learn to use DIS various among the personnel. The software domiciling initially on a system December 10th NIH host computer, who, during a complete use, was grievously slow. Fundamentally, SAYS it acted as mechanism of stocking and as recovery for current and historical data. It had two main subsystems called "pre-office of the Clerk of the Court " and "drug". The pre-office of the Clerk of the Court subsystem of treatment of compounds offered for the acquisition, while the subsystem of drug stocked given on drugs accepted and accepted for valuation anticancerous
SAYS it, when they are worked out in 1980s, was constructed with FORTRAN, which was the best available programming language at the time of application. Towards the middle of 1990s, relational databases are more and more easy to use and developer-friendly, and an effort to create a system of update to meet needs of DTC was thrown by using a deck ORACLE. Effort was spread in the fact that software would be necessary not to manipulate inventory, expedition and information of the supplier, but chemical and biological structures. The system must be appropriated for stocking, extraction and research of functions for all bases which had augmented in the course of almost 45 years of the programme, which complicated task. There was also a big curve of training by crossing the FORTRAN system based on the new system. Thank you for efforts of the Direction of technologies of information and of some members of the gifted personnel and the patient contract, the new system, called OMNIS, became the working system in 2005.
